Unlock the Secrets of learning the Quran for Beginners!

The Quran is the message of Allah to humanity. It was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad PBUH, the last messenger of Allah on earth. If we take a look at what Allah SWT Himself said about the Quran, we can see some marvelous verses that say,

“And indeed, you ˹O Prophet˺ are receiving the Quran from the One ˹Who is˺ All-Wise, All-Knowing”.

Allah SWT is warning humanity with the Qur’an, to prevent them from associating partners with Him and committing bad deeds. He SWT says,

Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ “I warn you only by revelation.”

He SWT also says,

“And if I am guided, it is ˹only˺ because of what my Lord reveals to me. He is indeed All-Hearing, Ever Near.”

The Quran is the main means by which Allah SWT guides whoever He chooses and for this precious gift, we should all be grateful for Allah and thank Him by doing our best to comprehend the messages revealed in It.  The Prophet PBUH said,

“Verily, Allah elevates some people with this Qur’an and abases others.”

Techniques for easy reading for beginners

Besides reading with Tajweed, the Quran should be slowly read to spell every letter in the right way and to give ourselves the chance to comprehend each word we read. Allah SWT says,

“˹It is˺ a Quran We have revealed in stages so that you may recite it to people at a deliberate pace”.

Understanding the Quran for beginners

Listening to a good Quran reciter will help you improve the way you pronounce the words because you naturally mimic their manners in reciting.

Try listening to the Surah while looking at the words in a copy of the Holy Quran. This will also enhance your level of getting the meanings of the verses as time passes.

Approaching Quran with an open mind

When we start reading the Quran, we might be surprised by a thing that we used to do and we found out that Allah does not like who does that.

So it is like a test, whether you will follow what you have known or you will prefer to follow your desires without caring about pleasing Allah.

That’s why the ability and desire to change are necessary to follow the orders of Allah and keep a distance from what Allah had prohibited.

The main aim of the Quran is not only to be recited or memorized or to affect your heart forcing you to cry without changing anything in it, but also to play a great role in changing your current false mindset and concepts which block you from understanding and applying for Its orders.

The best example of this idea of total transformation and fast shift is the jinn. Allah SWT says,

“˹Remember, O Prophet,˺ when We sent a group of jinn your way to listen to the Quran. Then, upon hearing it, they said ˹to one another˺, “Listen quietly!” Then when it was over, they returned to their fellow jinn as warners.

They declared, “O our fellow jinn! We have truly heard a scripture revealed after Moses, confirming what came before it. It guides to the truth and the Straight Way.

O our fellow jinn! Respond to the caller of Allah and believe in him, He will forgive your sins and protect you from a painful punishment.

Approaching Quran with an open mind

This happened because they “truly listened” to the Quran. Also because Allah had guided them in the right way by facilitating the way of His words to their hearts and minds to comprehend the true message of what they heard and apply for its orders as soon as they had acknowledged them.

“Surely in this is a reminder for whoever has a ˹mindful˺ heart and lends an attentive ear.”

Starting a dialogue with Allah

Considering the Quran as Allah’s direct speech which is addressed to humanity and we should all interact with it, so reciting the Quran is considered like a dialogue.

It is necessary to take refuge in Allah so that the Shaytan can not confuse you while focusing on comprehending and living the meanings of the Quran.

“When you recite the Quran, seek refuge with Allah from Satan, the accursed”.

Besides, Our ability to understand the verses of the Quran is in the hands of Allah, so we should ask Him SWT to grant us this ability.

In conclusion, each attempt of ours to get closer to Allah by reciting and comprehending the Quran is recorded and you will be rewarded for all the effort you exert. Remove the concepts of “it is too late” or “this book is not just for me” from your mind. Do not cast yourself from the humanity that Allah directed His Holy speech for. You can not afford to lose your only chance to get closer to the Quran before your death. Allah SWT says,

And We have certainly made the Quran easy to remember. So is there anyone who will be mindful?
